What Does Horse Rescue Mean to Me?
by Cheyenne Dokos
To me, horse rescue means to save the horse’s life, bond with the horse, and know that you have to take responsibility and care for them. Even though it is a lot of work and is very time-consuming, the amount of time and work you have to put into caring for the horse is worth it. Especially knowing that you saved the horses life. There is also very many learning opportunities in rescuing a horse. You can learn how to feed the horse, about their behavior, care for the horse, how to keep them healthy, and about being responsible. I think that rescuing horses is very important, and that if we didn’t rescue horses the world for them would be a very different place. Many horses would be slaughtered, mistreated, and abused. It shouldn’t be just one individual who takes a stand, you need groups of people to stand and speak for the horses. Even though in the end, rescue horses can be more expensive because of medical assistance and special needs, rescuing horses is still very important and you need people that are willing to save the horses. There are a lot of horses out there that need to be rescued and it means a lot to me. I hope that one day there won’t be any horses that have been mistreated but I’m afraid that will never happen unless the world takes a stand. That’s what horse rescue means to me. It means to save, protect, and care.

What a horse rescue means to me is the horses people save the horses get a new life and home. When people mistreat horses they lose people’s trust. But when people rescue them they gain trust. Also if the horses has a broken leg they can get procedures done to fix the harm done to the horse and they feel safe. Volunteers help raise money to supply food and care through holding events and raising donations. Giving their love and time. Also new rescue help benefit the horses new parents sometimes through therapy.
