Meet Tori! Tori came to us on October 20, 2016 after she was found wandering N. Merritt Island after Hurricane Matthew passed by. She was put into quarantine for 30 days while Brevard County Sheriff’s Office and we searched for her owners. Nobody showed up and nobody in the area had remembered seeing her before.
Once let out of quarantine, we were able to better evaluate her and it became apparent that she had never been full broken and lacked trusting people. That’s when volunteer Sierra met her. They feel in love and by January, Sierra adopted Tori.
It was a process but Sierra was dedicated to forming that bond of trust. She worked daily with Tori, reassuring her and building that relationship Tori needed with a human.
Last month, Tori accepted Sierra on her back, being led around the round pen. This month, they have been able to begin ground work in the arena. What an amazing transformation from being lost to being loved by her new mom.
Congratulations Sierra on all your hard work paying off!
